First of all I just want to say thank you to everyone who has booked a spot on our vintage hair and makeup workshops.

I'm thrilled to see others sharing a passion for vintage styling, and can't wait to meet you all!

I've put together this blog post to tell you all a little more about what to expect from the day, and share with you some of my favourite products, which you may choose to purchase ready for the day, or you may already have your firm favourites :)

We will be providing you all with tool kits for you to use on the day should you need them. If you have your own tools that you prefer to use then of course bring them along.

  • Makeup sponge.
  • Cotton pads.

  • Backcombing & smoothing brush.
  • Setting lotion.
  • Tissues.

We will also have curling tongs & makeup products that you are welcome to use if you don't have your own.

Your gift bags will also contain some good essentials, which I've listed below.

Face wipes, makeup remover, & mirrors are all provided too.

The day will start with some quick fix hair demonstrations. Vintage styles that you can achieve in 5 minutes for when you're on the go, or just feeling a little lazy ;)

Followed by a quick demonstration on how to pin curl your hair ready for bed.

Then on to the serious business, with a basic dry curl set.

Whislt your hair is setting we will work through makeup application, to include contouring and highlighting, how to get the perfect eyeliner for your eye shape, and how to acheive the perfect pout, as well as everything inbetween.

Once the makeup application is done it's back to the bonce, and how to brush out those curls for an authentic vintage do, and how to style your gorgeous new curls.

I will be bringing along my camera and portable printer, for those of you who would like a free print of your gorgeous new look.

Betty Recommends!

So here are some of the products that I use and highly recommend. I like to make sure that the products I use are affordable, but also so a darn good job!

For curling hair I absolutely love BaByliss 3035BU Thermo Ceramic Rollers. The velvet coated barrels achieve a smooth bouncy curl. They're easy to use, and you can get on with your makeup while they cool and set.

I have noticed just recently these are disappearing from our shops, and Amazon have whacked there prices up from £30 to a whopping £70!!! You can however still get them for below £30 on eBay. Hooray for eBay!!!

For flawless doll like skin I love Maybeline Dream Matte Mousse. It gives great coverage, and feels silky smooth, and for those of you with a porcelain complexion they do a shade that's perfectly pale- I know how difficult it can be to find a foundation for pale skin, that doesn't leave me with an orange tint!

Another great product for your base is Hard Candy's, Glamoflauge, heavy duty concealer. I recomend the light shade, unless you have a much darker skin tone or a very deep tan after all this sunshine! This product I have to buy on eBay as it's not available in the shops over here. It costs about £13 for a tube, and lasts forever!

You don't need to use a lot of this product, a little goes a long way. This is great for not only covering blemishes, but for highlighting. It will leave you looking brighter and younger, and is great for disguising dark circles. I will of course have my tube with me on the day, which you are all welcome to sample. It is a thick, heavy duty product, for those of you who don't usually wear much makeup it may take some getting used to, but it will help you acheive that flawless complexion.

The white eyeliner pencil! I have included one of these in your gifbags. It is one of my favourite products. Bringing tired eyes to life and adding sparkle. Lifting brows, and creating perfect pouts. I can't live without this product.

Translucent powder. The vintage look is all about a matte complexion. You don't need to spend loads on a powder. MUA at Superdrug do a great one for just a couple of pounds.

Red lips are a pin up girls trademark. For anyone who has been to see me you will know my favourite lip colour that seems to work on every skin tone, is Lime Crime, Velvetines, in Red Velvet. It goes on like a gloss, and dries matte. It lasts for hours, so is well worth the £13.50 price tag.

You can get yours here

Words cannot express how excited I am to be sharing my vintage tips and tricks with you all, and I simply cannot wait to see the finished products!!
