A Vintage Girls Christmas

06/12/13

It's time to get back on the blogging wagon!

It's been months since my last blog post, and so much has happened in that time.

We've had more fabulous vintage tea party photoshoots, attended several vintage fayres, photographed countless gorgeous ladies, and launched our very first Pin Up Calendar in support of local charity Beth's Wish.

You can show your support and purchase one of our glossy A3 calendars, by clicking here or popping in to see the gorgeous ladies at Perfect Measure in Ross-on-wye, Herefordshire, who have kindly agreed to stock our calendars.

So with Christmas just around the corner the challenge and stress of deciding what gifts to get for friends and family mounts.

So what better excuse for me to pull together my own Christmas wish list.

Filled with gorgeous goodies that a vintage girl like myself would love to find underneath the Christmas tree.

1. Chanel no 5 perfume.

The first bottle was produed in 1919, a scent that would epitomize the liberated spirit of the Flappers of the 1920s. A timeless classic with key scents of Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang and Mayrose.

Every womans dressing table should have a bottle on display!

2. Long fitted leather gloves.

Now I've been after some of these for quite some time, but they're always too short in the arm, too long in the finger, not tight enough, or just too darn pricey!

It all stemed from a photo of the glamorous Dita Von Teese, sporting a 50s tweed dress, black wicker handbag and some beautiful long leather gloves. I'll happily take the whole outfit but I will settle for just the gloves to start :)

I think I may have finally found an affordable pair that may just do the trick! At £31.50 from Asos, they don't look as long as Dita's but I bet they're a fraction of the price!

3. What Katie Did French knickers.

Underwear doesn't have to be skimpy to be sexy, Infact I very much favour a french knicker over a thong anyday! Keep it classy, with a beautiful pair of satin French knickers, or tap pants.

What Katie Did do a pretty pair in black, with button detail to the side.

Team with one of their retro bullet bras and transform yourself into a pin up bombshell

4. 1930s Style House Phone.

When it comes to interiors my heart belongs to the 1930s and Art Deco style, and the Brondi Vintage 20 Black Design  phone would look right at home in my 1930's inspired living room and studio.

5. 1930s Typewriter

This is a bit of an odd one I know, but there's something so beautiful about these machines. The typeface, being able to see the components at work, especially on these older models.

Even when not in use vintage typewriters make a beautiful ornament and a great talking point.

At Christmas time type out a letter to Father Christmas and leave it on display still on the reel :)

6. Seamed Stockings.

Well it wouldn't be Christmas without stockings!!

What Katie Did have a fantastic range of seamed stockings, my favourite for day to day wear have to be the nude with black contrast seams and tops.

I think Dita Vone Teese sums up my love for lingerie perfectly,  “Lingerie is not about seducing men, it’s about embracing womanhood.”   I love it when you can go about your daily business with the knowledge that you have a little secret of your own underneath.”

7. Along Came Betty Beauty Products

I recently discovered a vintage styled beauty range at Tesco's, at a very affordable price! Great for stocking fillers, and after reading so many great reviews on the products I most definitely want to sample some of these products myself! Top of my list are

All Concealed,

Fix Me Quick,

Pure Pores.

8. Vintage Lingerie. Historical Patterns and Techniques book.

So often I come across old photos of the most delicate and beautiful lingerie, the type you just can't buy today, and vintage garments are often too small for todays women.

So what better way to get the elegance and style of a vintage piece in a modern size than to go DIY!

From 20s French knickers to 50s bras, this book covers all of my favourite eras
